Dogs make us have a better life and pull us through our darkest times.
Ruby is a cute puppy that has improved and saved its owners Shauna Darcy’s life.
The duo meet each other when Darcy was having troubles with anxiety, depression, and agoraphobia, and was sure a service dog would be a great help to her case.
Ruby was a great help to Darcy since the first days, and little did they know that this dog’s love will save his owners life.
While Ruby was still getting trained to be a service dog, she noticed something that made her uneasy.
“She started picking up on changes in my heart rate and would act funny — for example, paw at me, try to get my attention, get on top of me, etc,“ Darcy explains in an interview with The Dodo.
Darcy took her dog’s attitude seriously and decided to go seek medical help, in her check up the doctors revealed that Shauna was suffering from vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, a rare heart condition that can be life-threatening.
This dog already did a miraculous work to make Darcy’s life better, but she had yet to offer.
The dog’s training shifted and now she focuses on Darcy’s heart issue and helps her monitoring her heart rate and retrieving her medications.
Than just a couple weeks ago the dog started alarming Darcy again that something was terribly wrong, and despite feeling alright the woman trusted her dog and decided to call an ambulance.
The decisions saved her life, since when they reached the hospital the woman was unconscious and had a lot of pain, since her heart went into atrial fibrillation, a heart condition where the heart rate becomes abnormally high.
While doctors were dealing to make Darcy’s health to improve, Ruby refused to leave her mother’s side staying with her all the time.
The woman is so grateful having Darcy always by her side.
